Scope and responsibilities
Your audit function owns its programme, judgement and report. We do not offer an independent audit opinion on our own implementation work. Where independence is required, use reviewers who meet your organisation's and the applicable scheme's requirements.
A practical example
If we implemented a tool-approval control, our regression test is an engineering check. Your audit team can inspect that result and obtain independent testing where needed. Calling our check an independent attestation would misstate who performed the work.
